The Orange County Tesla Club has invited us to join them touring a wind farm in Palm Springs.
Visit the first operating wind farm in Southern California. Palm Springs Windmill Tours will take you on a journey in which you will learn about wind energy, how wind turbines work and the history of the wind farm as well as solar and energizing the grid. Not only will you be able to get up close to real operating wind turbines up to 400 feet high, you will quickly become a wind energy hack. Expert guides will easily be able to describe the inner workings of wind turbines and how it contributes to our energy grid. From the novice tour participant to engineers-types, everyone will be able to leave the tour with a better understanding of how this renewable energy is fast becoming part of our energy solution. The San Diego Tesla Club last visited the wind farm five years ago as part of an overnight in Palm Springs.
OC members will be driving from the E Katella Superchargers to the wind farm for an 11am tour. Participants will be part of a walking tour that will last approximately 1.5 hours. After the tour is complete, everyone will gather up and drive 15 minutes to Palm Desert to J's Deli for lunch (approx 1:15pm). There are several Supercharger sites in the area if you need to "top off" on your way home.
The tour cost is $18 per person paid in advance and payment is needed by March 17th. For more information and to register, email octesla+RSVP@gmail.com
